About Mark

Mark is long, thin, cerebral.  He is a dreamer, a lover of music, art, and movement . . . grateful for life and love and sensation. He likes to eat and to cook, to travel and dance. He likes to work and likes his work, especially working with creative projects that implement new ideas or elegantly apply old ones.  Mark is a person who likes to explore on his own, but also likes to share and hang with family and friends . . . one who loves to read, create, express and play . . . who enjoys movement and language, who is a touch contemplative and introspective, but curious and willing to engage and learn from interaction with others and from all that appears in his world.

Mark is professional.  He has degrees in Medical Biology (BA), Psychology (BA) and Business (MBA). He is a dentist or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and was the principal clinician and owner of Mark L Christensen DDS and Associates, a general dental practice in Murray that operated successfully for several decades.  In 2016 he merged his practice with that of Dr. Jeffrey Buxton.  The merger was designed to provide patients with a broader range of services, with access to more technology, and with improved emergency coverage when Mark is engaged with professional obligations that take him out of town. (See Buxton Dentistry.)

Mark currently is or has been a member or officer of:  the American Dental Association, Utah Dental Association, Salt Lake District Dental Society, Great Basin Academy, Utah Dentists and Dental Hygienists Board, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Western Regional Examining Board, Commission on Dental Accreditation, Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations, American Association of Dental Boards, Academy of Operative Dentistry, World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry, and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Mark remains involved with various regional and national dental-related task force projects.

Mark also likes to dance and dances Argentine tango whenever he gets a chance.  He has been an officer, organizer, host and dance instructor for Wasatch Tango Club.  And, with all his work-related travel, he has established tango friendships with instructors and dancers in other tango communities across the country.
